Police are searching for three men that robbed an Elizabeth pharmacy at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Officers responded to Mabel's Pharmacy, located at 809 Elizabeth Avenue, at approximately 1:29 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery.
Upon their arrival, officers spoke to four pharmacy employees, who were in the store at the time of the robbery. The employees stated that two black males exited a small white SUV parked in front of the pharmacy and entered the pharmacy.
As they entered the store, they pulled masks up over their faces. Both men produced handguns and approached the counter.
One of the men jumped over the counter and entered the rear area of the store - where the pharmacy medication is kept - and demanded several bottles of Oxycotin and Oxycodone.
The second male walked around the counter and ordered an employee to open the register. She complied, handing the male an undetermined amount of cash.
Both suspects then fled from the pharmacy and entered the SUV where a driver was waiting.
The SUV was last seen fleeing west on Elizabeth Avenue.
An extensive search by patrol units, the SUV could not be located.
Detectives from the Elizabeth Police Department Detective Bureau are currently investigating.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Raymond Smith at (908) 558-2017.
