Officials at NJ Transit say their officers are leading the investigation into a train strike that killed a man this morning in Montclair.
According to a statement released by NJ Transit, the incident occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. when NJ Transit train number 6202 carrying about 30 people onboard left Montclair State University at around 5:10 a.m. and was expected to reach New York City Penn Station at 6:04 a.m.
Officials say the unidentified trespasser entered the tracks and was fatally struck by the Montclair-Boonton train just west of Watchung Avenue which caused 45-minute service delays.
There were no injuries to anyone onboard the train officials say.
NJ Transit buses are cross-honoring train tickets at this time.
