A child struck by a car in Elizabeth on Friday evening was rushed to the hospital suffering injuries.
According to police, officers responded to the 600 block of North Broad Street at around 6 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car.
Units arriving at the scene found a 7-year-old boy injured at that location.
EMS rushed the boy to University Hospital in Newark with what police described as a contusion and a head injury.
Police said an unidentified driver reported that the boy jumped out from between two parked cars before he struck him.
Officers issued the driver a summons for driving while suspended and careless driving.
The incident remains under investigation.
