The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is looking into a fatal pedestrian strike that occurred Saturday night on Newark's West and Central Wards.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the 600 block of Springfield Avenue, near South 17th Street, following reports of a person hit by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, police found a 53-year-old Newark man suffering from severe injuries.
Despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, and the investigation remains ongoing.
