Essex County officials announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating a fatal shooting.
Officials said on Monday, September 14 at approximately 1:24 p.m., Mr. Jerry Wayne Works, Jr., 50, of Newark, was shot at 36 Brenner Street in Newark.
Officials said Works was transported to Rutgers University Hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:18 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
