Authorities in Essex County are actively searching for an armed suspect who fatally shot a man overnight in a neighborhood on the border of Newark’s West and Central Wards.
Police responded to a 911 call just before midnight from a resident who reported hearing gunshots in the 400 block of South 11th Street near 15th Avenue.Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Emergency medical personnel administered CPR before rushing the victim to University Hospital.
