Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé announced that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Andre Shoulars, 49, of Irvington.
Police said on August 30, at about 9:17 p.m., Newark police responded to a report of a shooting on the 100 block of Goodwin Avenue in Newark.
Arriving officers located Shoulars outside that location, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
