Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Gregory Wright, 34, of Irvington.
Officials say on June 19, 2019, at approximately 8:56 p.m., Irvington Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Maple Avenue in Irvington.
Officials say when officers arrived, they discovered Wright suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
EMS transported him to University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 9:24 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
