UPDATE: 32-Years-Old Newark Man Identified as Victim of Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Newark

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Anthony F. Ambrose has announced that authorities are investigating a collision between a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle, in which the motorcyclist was fatally injured.

According to authorities, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Newark police officers were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Fairmount Avenue where arriving units observed that a motorcycle had collided with a Jeep Cherokee and the motorcyclist appeared to have suffered severe injuries.

EMS transported the motorcyclist to University Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at 6:05 pm, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as **Mr. Kyle L. Garvin, 32, of Newark**.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, who remained on the scene, was not injured, according to Fennelly.

This incident is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
