Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announce that at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Monday, police officers responded to the area of 12th Avenue and East 22nd Street in the City of Paterson in response to a report of shots fired.
Upon their arrival, the officers discovered one victim, Dashon Mayfield, 30, from Paterson, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Police say Mr. Mayfield was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he died from his wounds a short time later.
A second victim, Tymir Leary, 30, from Paterson, also suffered multiple gunshot wounds at the scene, but was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in a private vehicle prior to the arrival of first responders. Mr. Leary was admitted in stable condition.
