A fatal shooting that took place outside a barber shop in Elizabeth yesterday evening is under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force and its investigative partner agencies, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo announced Thursday.
Officials say the victim has been identified as Tyshun Kearney, 30, of Elizabeth.
At approximately 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, Elizabeth Police Department patrol units rushed to the corner of Jackson Avenue and Bond Street on a report of shots being fired, according to the preliminary investigation. Arriving officers found Kearney there, having sustained multiple gunshot injuries.
Kearney was subsequently rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A joint investigation involving the Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit remains ongoing, and anyone with information about this matter is being urged to contact Task Force Sgt.
