Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Dennis McFadden of the Carteret Police Department announced today that a shooting is under investigation in the Borough of Carteret.
Officials said on March 12, at approximately 9:57 p.m., authorities responded to the area of Roosevelt Avenue following a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers located one male victim, who sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to Raritan Bay Medical Center for treatment.
Evan Blozen, 23, of Carteret, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Initial investigation has revealed that this does not appear to be a random act of violence, and there does not appear to be a threat to the public.
