NJ State Police officials are investigating a crash that resulted in fatal injuries for a woman and severe injuries for the male driver.
According to a statement released by NJ State Police officials, the violent collision occurred at approximately 5:51 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway in Woodbridge Township.
NJ State Police officials said a preliminary investigation indicated that in the area of milepost 94.6, a Mercedes and a Ford van were involved in a crash.
Police say the female passenger of the Mercedes, Ms. Wendys Guevara, 23, of Elizabeth, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 23-year-old male driver (H.N.) was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick suffering life-threatening injuries.
NJ State Police said the outer roadway stayed closed for several hours while detectives investigated the cause of the crash.
