UPDATE: 20-Year-Old Man Killed in Jersey City Shooting

Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Jersey City on the evening of January 3, 2025.

According to a statement released by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the incident is being jointly investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.  

NinoPolice were alerted to reports of gunfire near Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Rahmiere Morris, a Jersey City resident, suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.  

Morris was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m.

The official cause and manner of death are awaiting confirmation from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.  

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345.  

The Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, and more details may emerge as detectives continue their work.
