Ocean County authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man in Barnegat Township on Sunday night.
According to a statement released by police, at around 11:18 pm, Barnegat Police responded to a report of a single-car motor vehicle crash on Warren Grove Road.
Authorities said responding officers discovered that a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche had left the roadway and struck a tree.
According to authorities, the driver, Ender Lopez-Perez, 20, from Little Egg Harbor, died in the crash and the lone passenger, a 20-year-old male also from Little Egg Harbor, was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center as a precaution. He was evaluated and released police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Ptl. Ed Hayes of the Barnegat Police Department.
Barnegat Police were assisted by the Barnegat Volunteer First Aid Squad, Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company, Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI, Stafford Township Police Department, Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company, and the Little Egg Harbor Police Department.
