A violent shooting in Newark claimed the life of a New York City man in late February.
On February 20, EMS units passing through the area of Springfield Avenue and Blum Street were reportedly flagged down by good samaritans around 6:30 p.m.
An unidentified male was found suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said the victim was rushed to University Hospital, where he died from his injuries at 7:39 p.m.
The victim was identified as Mr. Abdoulaye Drame, 18, of Bronx, NY. Authorities would not confirm why Drame was in the Central Ward neighborhood at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
