Newark Police officials announce that a 17-year-old woman was shot in Newark's West Ward early this morning.
According to police, just after 1:30 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a residence in the 200 block of South 9th Street on a call of a shooting.
Responding officers located a 17-year-old female who had been shot in the back.
Police officials said that the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
Police have reported that a suspect is in custody.
