Essex County officials announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Jarrod Lawson, 16, of Newark.
Police said, today, Lawson was fatally shot in the 500 block of 15th Avenue around 12:40 a.m. in the city of Newark.
Lawson was transported to University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
