Union Township police were called this morning to Livingston Elementary School after a student reportedly brought a gun to school.
According to authorities, police responded to the Livingston Elementary School, located on the 900 block of Midland Boulevard, after a student was reportedly seen with a gun.
Officials say responding officers determined that a 9-year-old student brought an inoperable airsoft gun to school to show his friends. Officers took the gun from the student’s backpack and determined that the gun does not work.
According to authorities, the gun was simply brought to show his friends, but there was no threat associated with the gun.
The school will follow up with the student and his family and the school has returned to normal operations.
