Union Police Warn Residents of Phone Scam

Union Township (Union)

Union Police said in a statement:

“Our police department will not call you up and ask for money, even if you have warrants. A citizen reported that he received a phone call and the caller ID showed the main phone number for police HQ.

The caller purported to be a detective and asked for the caller's bank account # to pay for fines or we will show up and arrest him. Luckily the caller did not share any personal information and did not lose any money.

The caller ID was spoofed and the call did not originate from us. Police Officers will show up at a home looking for a person, but are not looking to collect fine money.

If you do have arrest warrants, please call us and we will be happy to arrest you and take you to court. They will take your bail money, but you will get a legit receipt”:
