Union County authorities have officially launched an investigation into a shooting that killed a male Sunday night in Plainfield.
According to preliminary reports released by officials, at approximately 8:10 p.m. police were called to an address in the 400 block of Liberty Street after they received reports of shots fired.
Officials say units arrived at the scene and found a male suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center where doctors pronounced the unidentified male dead a short time later.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
There were no arrests made.
