Union County Non-Profit to Host "A Taste of Home" Community Event to Share Food, Culture, Faith

Union County

Food is a deep part of many peoples’ spiritualities that is often shared with family and friends.

From the farmers who till the land to produce it, to the miles and hours it travels from distribution to kitchen and finally to plate, food has a spirituality all its own.

The Union County Interfaith Coordinating Council and Community Access Unlimited invite the community to participate in the spiritual act of sharing food together at A Taste of Home on Sunday, July 17, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Warinanco Park (Dipple Woods area by the skating park) in Elizabeth.

Registration is requested for this free event and is available on Eventbrite and caunj.org.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share with those gathered. Ideally, this dish should be one that makes you feel like home– wherever that is!

A Taste of Home

Union County is a diverse county in the already diverse state of New Jersey, and A Taste of Home is a celebration of that diversity!

They will celebrate the many ethnicities, religious traditions, and histories all around us through the sharing of food and story.

The more diverse food, the better the event will be, so don’t forget to bring a dish!

In addition to the event having wonderful food and stories, there will be activities for kids like crafting, a bouncy house, carnival games, and face painting.

Kids will be able to spend some time crafting on large poster board concerns they have about their lives, communities, and our world.

At 5:00 p.m., all attendees will gather for a prayer walk where religious leaders and the community will pray for the prayer concerns enumerated on the poster boards that the kids crafted.

Join the Union County Interfaith Coordinating Council and Community Access Unlimited on Sunday, July 17, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. (Prayer Walk at 5:00 p.m.) to celebrate the diversity of Union County through food, story, and prayer.
