In light of the recent loss of Christa, mother to a 5-year-old Battle Hill preschooler and his 3-year-old sister, the Township of Union and the Union Rotary Club will host the second annual Networking for A Cause event on Wednesday, June 12, from 6 to 9 p.m.The event will take place at Lagar Restaurant, located at 1252 Stuyvesant Ave, Union, NJ.
“Last year, the Rotary Club of Union joined with the Township of Union to assist our two students battling cancer. It was an event that made a huge impact on all involved,” said Kathy Arminio, President of the Union Rotary Club.
“This year, we are reaching out to help a family who needs to know they are surrounded by caring people and they are not alone. Every time Rotarians reach out, we receive more than we give. I invite everyone to reach out, support this cause, and then receive tenfold what you gave.”
The focus of this event is to provide support, both emotionally and financially, to the grieving family members left behind by Christa after her battle with cancer.
The family would like to acknowledge the Battle Hill school family who have offered continuous support during this time.
“It is truly remarkable to witness the range of emotions these young children are navigating,” said Ann Lang, Battle Hill preschool teacher. “In a heartwarming display of resilience, Christa’s son sends a balloon hug up to Mommy in heaven whenever he is missing her. He understands that when the balloon disappears from sight, it means that Mommy has caught his hug and is smiling down at him. While nothing can fill the void left by her absence, it brings a glimmer of joy to those around him to see his face light up when he exclaims, ‘Mommy got a hug!’.”
Tickets can be purchased online through the Union Special Improvement District (SID) on Eventbrite.com or using cash or card at the door. Admission will be $35 per person and will include appetizers and two glasses of sangria.
“This event acts as a reminder for our Township to support our friends, neighbors, and those who may be struggling within our community,” said Manuel Figueiredo, Mayor.“It is important that we support our fellow community members during such a devastating time.”
The Union community is encouraged to come together to show their support for Christa’s family and ensure they feel the love and strength of their neighbors during this difficult period.
