Two Women Accused of Robbing Pedestrian in Newark

Authorities in Newark are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two women suspected of robbing a pedestrian earlier this month, according to information released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr.   AdThe incident took place around 3 p.m. on December 15, 2024, along the 800 block of South 17th Street.

Police reported that the victim was walking when two women exited a 2018 Honda Accord, with New Jersey license plate W98KGH, and approached her from behind.

The suspects forcibly took the victim’s pocketbook, which contained personal items and a debit card.

Shortly after the robbery, police say the card was used to make purchases totaling $200.  

The suspects fled the scene in the vehicle, driven by a third individual. Police located the car three days later, on December 18, 2024.  

The first suspect is described as an African-American woman, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build and short hair styled in a bun.

She was last seen wearing a grey or greenish sweat suit, a hooded jacket, and black and red sneakers.

The second suspect, also described as African-American, is the same height and build but has long braids reaching her waist.AdShe was wearing a black sweatshirt and pants, a ski mask, a green vest, and black and white sneakers at the time of the incident.  

Investigators are urging anyone with information that could lead to identifying the suspects to come forward.
