Police reported two injuries in a Newark Central Ward shooting Tuesday night.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 11:35 p.m., police responded to a ShotSpotter activation, and nearly a dozen residents who dialed 911 reporting a shooting near 311 18th Avenue.
Units arrived and found a male victim suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
Police say EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment while detectives canvassed the shooting scene for additional victims.
During the investigation, officials at the medical center notified police when a second victim entered the emergency room suffering gunshot wounds.
Police say they believe the walk-in gunshot victim was injured at the 18th Avenue crime scene. The individual was reportedly uncooperative with police.
Authorities have not determined a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
No arrests have been reported.
