Two men have been arrested and charged for the killing of a Carteret Borough resident known to them, Middlesex County authorities said.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., July 28, authorities responded to the area of Hayward Street following a report of an altercation.
Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Lisandro Villalba, 45, of Carteret, who later lost consciousness at the scene.
Police said EMS rushed Villalba to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead several hours later.
An investigation conducted by Detective Keith Cassens of the Carteret Police Department and Detective Linda Infusino of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined Mr. Bilal Kadi, 34, of Carteret and Mr. Jorge Cristohadlow, 33, of Brooklyn repeatedly struck the victim following a dispute over a parking space.
An autopsy conducted by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed Villalba died of blunt force trauma.
Police say on August 3, Kadi was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter.
According to police, on Wednesday, Cristohadlow was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter after being taken into custody by members of the Woodbridge Police Department.
When arrested on the manslaughter charge, Cristohadlow was found to be in possession of credit cards belonging to others.
Kadi and Cristohadlow are presently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Kadi and Cristohadlow are merely accusations and presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Cassens at (732) 541-4181 or Detective Infusino at (732) 745-4340.
