The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office has taken the lead in the investigation in a deadly shooting that killed one and left another critically injured in Pemberton Township Monday night.
In the shooting incident, police were dispatched to the vicinity of 143 Snow Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired around 11:45 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman suffering multiple gunshot wounds in her chest at that location. Police said the female victim was rushed to Deborah Hospital for treatment and listed in critical condition.
While investigating at the scene, police found a second unidentified person suffering fatal injuries.
Police secured the scene and searched for evidence to support a motive for the attack, but the suspect fled the scene and is at large.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
