Carteret Police are on the scene of a shooting that has left at least two people with severe injuries. According to preliminary information from RLS Media reporters at the scene, the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. near 1186 Roosevelt Avenue.
Police received reports of multiple shots fired and arrived to find two victims with severe injuries. The gunman reportedly fired nearly a dozen rounds at them.
The victims, who residents say appear to be two women, were airlifted to area hospitals. Their conditions have not been confirmed at this time.
Carteret Police immediately requested assistance from Woodbridge Police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office upon arriving at the scene.Middlesex County officials have yet to confirm further details surrounding the incident.
Residents can expect heavy delays as Roosevelt Avenue, a main road to the NJ Turnpike, remains affected by the ongoing investigation.
