A Sparta man was arrested Saturday morning after he allegedly poured water on the road to try to cover up DWI crash.
According to police, Brian J. Byers was allegedly driving a 2001 black BMW on Woodport and Sawmill roads when he struck a guard rail after blowing through a stop sign.
After the crash, Bryer drove the car to a nearby home before returning to the scene in the friend's car, where they allegedly than poured water onto the road to blame black ice for the crash.
Alexander Zambenedetti, 20, of Sparta was charged with drunken driving, police added.
Byers was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and disorderly conduct.
Both men are due in court Thursday morning.
