Police in Jersey City are investigating the motive behind a set of shootings in sections of the city on Tuesday night.
According to police, the first incident happened around 11 p.m. near 769 Montgomery Street.
An armed male suspect arrived in the area and began firing at unknown targets before running from the scene. Police say officers located multiple shell casings, but no victims were found after searching the scene.
At approximately 11:37 p.m., a ShotSpotter device activated in the vicinity of 125 Grant Avenue.
Police arrived and found shell casings and were told by witnesses that two black males dressed in dark clothing ran from the scene immediately after gunfire erupted.
Authorities believe that the suspects described the witnesses who fired the shots.
No injuries were reported on Grant Avenue.
