A tragic accident early Saturday morning claimed the lives of two people in a multi-vehicle collision on Route 1&9 in Newark, near the Kearny border Essex County Prosecutor’s Office officials said.
The crash, which occurred close to the Hudson County Jail, involved four vehicles that sustained severe damage.
The collision took place on the Newark side of the bridge, where three of the vehicles collided, creating a devastating scene that led to the closure of the highway for much of the day.
Preliminary information obtained by RLS Media suggests that both victims were female, though their identities have not yet been released by authorities.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains active and ongoing.
