Newark Fire officials said firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire at 379 Chadwick Avenue with two victims injured today.
According to officials, just after 7:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a call of a fire on the third floor of the 3-story residence.
Officials say a second alarm was immediately called, with some 70 firefighters responding.
Two individuals, who jumped from a window at the residence, have been transported to University Hospital for treatment.
Officials said ten residents were relocated.
In an interesting turn of events, police found an unoccupied car near the fire scene wanted for an earlier shooting homicide on Grumman and Maple.
The fire was considered under control at 8:26 p.m.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Newark Department of Public Safety’s Arson Unit.
