Police in Newark are investigating a shooting incident in the Central Ward that sent two males to the hospital Thursday morning.
The early morning shots fired incident was first detected on a ShotSpotter device around 2:05 a.m.
When cops arrived at the scene, they requested EMS to the Mercer Street and Broome Street area after finding two victims suffering gunshot wounds.
The pair were transported to University Hospital for treatment of bullet wounds, but their condition has only been reported as serious.
Newark's Shooting Response Team joined the investigation, but no arrests were reported.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
