Two victims miraculously suffered non-fatal injuries in a high-speed collision that split one of the cars in half on impact in Newark’s North Ward Friday.
The early-morning crash happened around 2:07 a.m. at the intersection of Mount Prospect and Elwood avenues.
Emergency responders rushed to the location after receiving reports of a crash with injuries.
When rescue crews arrived, they found a male victim ejected from a severely damaged vehicle split in half.
The conscious and alert victim suffered some injuries but is expected to recover.
One other victim from the other crashed vehicle was not ejected but also suffered non-fatal injuries.
Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash but believe speed is one of the causes of the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
