Two Indicted in Killing of New Jersey City State University Student in Newark

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that an Essex County Grand Jury has returned a five-count indictment charging Raquan Langford and Damiar Pendergrass with the murder of Reginald Terry, a freshman at New Jersey City University who was shot outside a party in Newark in Dec. 21, 2013.   The indictment charges Langford, 20, and Pendergrass, 19, both of Newark with conspiracy, murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and aggravated assault.   Terry, 18, of Newark, was home for the Christmas holiday attending a party in downtown Newark when he was shot during a confrontation outside the party around 12:30 am in the vicinity of Washington and Market streets.   Both men are currently housed at the Essex County Correctional Facility on $750,000 bail. They are expected to be arraigned on the charges before the Honorable Ronald Wigler on Feb. 10 .   These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
