Newark Police are investigating the cause of a serious crash that sent two people to the hospital early Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred just after 4 a.m. in the area of 1st Street and Orange Street.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting a vehicle crash with an overturned car on fire and trapped occupants.
Firefighters, along with rescue crews from University Hospital, arrived and located the severely damaged vehicle.
Two individuals were extricated from the wreckage and immediately transported to University Hospital for treatment.
According to officials, both victims are reported to be in serious condition.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by Newark authorities.
