Two homes suffered extensive damage after a fire ignited both buildings Thursday night in Perth Amboy.
Firefighters were dispatched to 156 Lynd Street after headquarters received several 911 calls reporting a fire inside a house.
Upon arrival, fire officials struck a second alarm for manpower after they found a single-family home fully involved in flames and fire extending to a second home.
Firefighters experienced bad fire hydrants in the area but stretched several lines to get the blaze under control in under an hour.
A search of the homes indicated no trapped or injured occupants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
