Union County authorities announced that two men were arrested in a shooting death that took place on October 16, 2022.
According to officials, Ahmad Conde, 19, of Elizabeth, and Ducarmel H. Georges, 19, of Brooklyn, New York, are charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses in connection with the shooting death of Emmanuelle Florestal of Union.
Officials say on October 16, 2022, at approximately 6:39 p.m., the Union Police Department responded to the area of Hendricks Drive in Union on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they located the victim, Florestal, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to Police, Florestal was subsequently transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A joint investigation led by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force and the Union Township Police Department, with the assistance of Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, Union County Police Ballistics, United States Marshals Service, and New York City Police Department led to the identification of Conde and Georges as the perpetrators.
Authorities say in the early morning hours of March 20, members of the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force executed arrest warrants in Brooklyn, at which time they could place Georges under arrest.
Conde remained a fugitive until he was arrested on March 28.
“We appreciate the hard work and collaboration with our local and federal law enforcement agencies who assisted our office in locating and apprehending the suspect,” Prosecutor Daniel said.
“We hope that this arrest can bring some small measure of comfort to all those grieving Mr. Florestal.”
