Two people are in custody and one other person is being sought in connection with the fatal shooting of a Plainfield woman earlier this year, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Thursday.
Plainfield residents Gquan Johnson, 18, Raequan Segers, 19, and Anthony Baines, 22, all are charged with first-degree murder and two related weapons offenses in connection with the death of 24-year-old Neelega Perry.
Johnson and Baines were arrested during recent weeks, with bail set at $1.5 million apiece, while Segers remains at large.
Plainfield Police Division patrol units responding to a report of a body in the rear yard of a home on the 400 block of Spruce Street in Plainfield late on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, where they found Perry, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A subsequent investigation involving the Prosecutor’s Office’s Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Identification Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit resulted in the three defendants being identified as suspects in the case.
Investigators are seeking assistance from the public in determining the whereabouts of Segers.
