Firefighters in Paterson battled a raging two-alarm fire that tore through a house in the city early Tuesday morning.
Residents in the 700 block of East 27th Street dialed 911 after seeing heavy smoke billowing from the windows of a vacant two and a half story home located at 757 just before 3:30 a.m.
Crews arrived at the scene and immediately struck a second alarm as flames began to extend to a nearby commercial building according to fire officials.
Crews were able to make entry into the building where they performed a search for trapped and injured occupants which came back negative.
Firefighters had much of the flames knocked down in under an hour with the cause of the blaze under investigation.
