Fire officials in Newark reports that members of the Newark Fire Division extinguished a two-alarm fire at 838 South Orange Avenue yesterday.
Officials say at approximately 9:10 p.m., firefighters responded to the 2-story mixed use building with businesses on first floor and apartments on second floor.
A second alarm was called at 9:18 p.m., resulting in a total of 70 firefighters at the scene.
The fire began in the building’s basement and extended to the second floor.
No injuries have been reported, but three men were relocated.
The fire was considered under control at 9:36 p.m. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit.
