Irvington firefighters battled a raging two-alarm fire that ignited a multi-family building Monday morning.
According to fire officials, a call came in for an apartment fire at the building located at 336 17th Avenue shortly before 9 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully involved wood structure with reports of people trapped on the second and third floors.
Officials say following a search of the building, authorities determined that there were no trapped victims.
Officials say although there were no immediate injuries reported among the residents, a firefighter did suffer minor injuries.
Irvington Township Fire Department Chief Gary says that although they don’t have an exact number of people displaced, there are over a dozen people left homeless at this time.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
