Two-Alarm Building Fire Displaces Residents in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that members of the Newark Fire Division extinguished a 2-alarm building fire at 571 South 17th Street.

According to Director Ambrose, at approximately 5:10 p.m. this evening, firefighters responded to the three-family wood frame residential building on fire.

Crews quickly brought the fire under control at 5:16 p.m. with no injuries reported.

Emergency Medical Services and Red Cross are on the scene to assist families that have been displaced.

The cause and origin of this fire will be investigated by the Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit.
