Two Adults, Juvenile Charged with Jersey City Murder of Jayden Fondeur

Officials announced the arrest of three people, including a juvenile, in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Jayden Fondeur.

According to authorities, detectives from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force yesterday charged two adult males and one juvenile male in connection with Jayden Fondeur’s murder which occurred in September 2018.

Following an investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force and the Jersey City Police Department, charges were filed against Isaiah Huggins, 19, Rayquan Carmichael, 18, and a 16-year-old juvenile. The two adult defendants and the juvenile are from Jersey City.

Police today arrested Huggins in Essex County where he is currently in custody in the Essex County Jail on unrelated charges. Officials say Carmichael and the juvenile defendant were arrested yesterday without incident in Jersey City.

The two adult defendants have each been charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Police charged the juvenile with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Officials say on September 18, 2018, at approximately 6:25 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Old Bergen Road and Pamrapo Avenue in Jersey City.

Upon arrival, officers found Jayden Fondeur, 17, of Jersey City, in front 23 Old Bergen Road with gunshot wound(s) to his head/neck. He was found in an apparent lifeless condition. Fondeur was pronounced dead at approximately 6:55 p.m. and the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be gunshot wound of the neck and the manner of death to be homicide.
