Joan Rivers has died at 81 at Mount Sinai hospital in New York City at 1:17 p.m., Melissa Rivers, announced today.
According to reports, Rivers was undergoing throat surgery at a clinic in New York City on Aug. 28 when she stopped breathing and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Rivers a New York native was born in Brooklyn in 1933.
She made numerous appearances on show such as the Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, Fashion Police and even hosted her own late night talk show,
Among her numerous endeavors, in 1983 Rivers became the first female comedian to ever perform at Carnegie Hall.
River’s daughter, Melissa Rivers issued the above statement today.
