An explosion in Tuckerton caused the fire department to get involved.
Police said at 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, Tuckerton Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a possible motor vehicle accident into a building or a hot dog trailer explosion at North Green Street and Second Avenue.
They responded with 3 engines, the rescue truck and an ambulance, and found a large debris field with damage to some houses in the area as a result of an explosion at the corner of Railroad Avenue.
There was no fire, and firefighters were sent to check residences for a several block area for damage and potential injuries.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
The explosion could be heard for miles.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated by the Ocean County Fire Marshall's Office and Ocean County Prosecutors Office.
