Trooper Drives Stranded Stockton University Student to Final Exam

Ocean County

A trooper recently went above and beyond in getting a college student to his chemistry final after some car trouble the Garden State Parkway.

According to police, May 4, John Lancellotti was mentally preparing himself for a final as he drove his 2005 Nissan Frontier.

At 9:02 a.m., John’s truck became disabled at milepost 61.2 in Eagleswood Township, Ocean County as he was on his way to his 10 a.m. final.

Tpr. I Snyder responded to what we in the NJSP like to call a “Motorist Aid.” When she arrived, she could see smoke billowing from the engine, which required her to call for a tow truck. John explained that he was on his way to take an exam at Stockton University and that his parents were working out of the area.

In a situation like this, a trooper is required to relay a stranded motorist to a safe area where he or she can make arrangements for a ride home, but that’s not what Tpr. I Snyder did.

Instead, she went above and beyond the call of duty by driving John directly to the University so that he did not have to miss or reschedule the exam.

Now some cynical types out there may say, “So what, big deal!” But in a letter that John’s parents sent to us, it was a big deal to them and to John as well.

They were touched by Tpr. I Snyder’s professionalism and character, and they were extremely grateful that she helped their son during a very stressful time.

This was the first of two incidents in two days when troopers from Troop “D” Galloway Station went above and beyond to help some young people.

Thank you Tpr. I Kimberly Snyder for an outstanding job.
