TRFFIC ALERT: Street Closures Announced Due to Increased Visits for COVID-19 Testing at Newark Health Department This Week

Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka announces the following street closures to control the potential influx of traffic due to residents visiting the Mary Eliza Mahoney Federally Qualified Health Center for healthcare, beginning at 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, March 23, to Friday, March 27, 2020:

William Street from Washington Street to University Avenue

Halsey Street at William Street (with traffic to be diverted southbound on Halsey Street)

No Parking will be permitted on William Street

It is to be noted that testing for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) will only be administered in the event that a patient exhibits virus-related symptoms and has been seen by a primary care physician.

If you do not have a medical provider, then the Mary Eliza Mahoney Federally Qualified Health Center is open for general medical care.

Officials say this will not be a walk-in clinic.

You must call ahead to 800-734-7083 to make an appointment.
