NJ Transit officials are investigating a train strike that killed a trespasser in Weehaken on Monday evening.
According to NJ Transit officials, at approximately 11 pm Monday, a Hudson Bergen Light Rail train bound for Hoboken struck and fatally injured an adult female near Port Imperial Boulevard in Weehawken.
NJ Transit officials said there were approximately 70 people onboard the train and none of the passengers or crew were injured.
Officials say the customers were transferred to another train without incident and there was no impact to Hudson Bergen Light Rail service.
Detectives from the New Jersey Transit Police Department are conducting an active and ongoing investigation.
