Authorities in Westwood are investigating a train strike that killed a trespasser in Westwood early this morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Broadway and Irvington Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. to investigate a person struck by a train at that location.
Units arriving at the scene found an unconscious and unresponsive person near the tracks after a train struck them shortly before emergency responders' arrival.
NJ Transit officials suspended rail service on the Pascack Valley Line between Woodcliff Lake and Spring Valley for the investigation.
There were no other injuries immediately reported.
